Every half term members of the School Council raise money for a variety of charities. This can include non-uniform days, cakes and biscuits sales, and competitions. The members of the School Council choose which charity they will be helping for that half term.
On November 14th 2014, we had a student non-uniform day and raised £358.19 for Children In Need.
On December 19th 2014, we raised £253.75 for Save the Children by wearing Christmas jumpers.
We also raised £358.19 for DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) Ebola appeal.
Our School Council member and Student Leader working on charities is Martyna in Year 11.
Hi, my name is Martyna and I am currently a Student Leader in Year 11. I have been a part of the School Council for two consecutive years, and this term I am a leader for the group of charities in the School Council. So far we have raised money for charities such as Ebola (DEC), Save the Children, Children in need, as well as the Macmillan charity. I have also organised the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal at Whitley for Christmas 2014 via the Samaritans Purse organisation, and several shoe boxes have been sent to children in the poorest parts of Romania. In addition to this we have helped our local community by volunteering to help clean up the Charter House on the London road in Coventry.
Our aims for this term is to raise money for Comic Relief, as well as raise awareness for mental health through our project called ‘Silent Knight’, which is currently expanding. Our long term goals for the upcoming years are to continue organising the Shoe Box Appeal, and to raise money to build a school in Africa, with the help of the ‘Free the Children’ organisation.
Thank you for your continued support, and please look out for more ways to help us raise money for charities.
