17 Oct Frankenstein at the Belgrade
Some Year 9 students were lucky enough to go to The Belgrade to see a performance of ‘Frankenstein’ on Thursday 10 October. The novel, by Mark Shelley, is one that all Year 9 students read and study and it tells the horrifying tale of one man’s obsession with bringing the dead back to life.
With an appearance from Mary Shelley herself – thankfully not the real one – as the narrator, the story was easy to follow and flitted between countries and scenes with ease. The students were enthralled all the way through and there were plenty of jump-scares. What’s more they were surprised and horrified by the ending (no spoilers here) and are looking forward to continuing with the novel in their English lessons. When asked what was the best part one student replied, “the acting,” whilst another liked the set and thought it was clever how the set was a boat, the Arctic, a laboratory, a family home and a log cabin without actually changing at all!
