Whitley Academy fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding children (child protection). Our policy applies to all staff, volunteers, governors and visitors in the school.
At Whitley Academy we detail out our day to day expectations in a series of detailed policy statements. These are called Statements of Strategic Intent. They act as a reference point when we need to check that what we are doing is the right thing.
It is vital that each student attends school daily with as little absence as possible. There is a clear and direct relationship between school attendance and performance in formal examination and success in the future. Please ensure that your child attends every day as far as is possible.
Schools hold data on all their pupils, which they and others use for a variety of purposes. This page makes available to parents and pupils information on which organisations have access to this data and what they use it for.
Whitley Academy is an innovative and inclusive school, committed to delivering high quality education for the community it serves. We value everyone that we work with, regardless of their differing needs, abilities, or backgrounds. This ethos influences all that happens within the school - our mantra of ‘deeds not words’ supports all students to 'be the best they can be'.
Whitley Academy is accessible to all students who live within our local communities. We have no selection process. The school co-ordinate their admission arrangements with the Local Authority and these are administered by the School Admissions Team with Coventry City Council
Students at Whitley Academy are expected to wear their school uniform with pride. The school believes that wearing a uniform promotes a sense of belonging to the school community. It also works to develop a sense of formality and purpose to the day in school.
The Pupil Premium is additional funding for schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.
