Our School Partners

New Orleans School South Africa

We are very proud to have a special relationship with our partner School in South Africa.

Mrs Allen (Principal) and Mrs Elton (Inclusion Director) attended an International iNet Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in February 2010.

The aim of the conference was to bring together Educational Leaders from across the world to share good practice and develop ideas to help the Equity and Excellence agenda. This means helping the weaker, the poorer and the more deprived to achieve excellence:- Excellence for all no matter their background or lack of resource.

Life is not fair in that many children are born into extreme poverty and have lives that are unsafe, scary and sometimes no food or shelter. These children need the same opportunities, hopes and dreams of other children. Schools and teachers/staff need to give children hope and keep their dreams.

The conference brought many international leaders, politicians, professors and educationalist together to pool their energies, ideas and support for this agenda.

Teaching methods, the use of sport, resources and technology were all part of the "iNet Charter for Action, paving the way for the future".

The conference was excellent, challenging and very political. Children in South Africa to learn, engage, appreciate the lives and problems of others and share views, thoughts and exciting opportunities - the Global Citizenship.

Our school link is with New Orleans High School, Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa.

Peugeot Motor Company

Peugeot are a very close (5 mins away) local employer who are known to our community and employ some of our parents. The UK headquarters are located at this site as are 2 research garages in Coventry. Peugeot as a Business Partner already have input into the Business department at Whitley Academy and have good links with staff to support lesson planning, and visits by students to the local facility.

The community will benefit from more formal links with a significant local employer. Peugeot staff will contribute to the delivery of the curriculum to students and provide an employer that students can visit, including work experience and work placements. Peugeot Graduates will work with our Post 16 students on suitable modules and present at evening events for parents.
