Sociology aims to develop your understanding of the social forces that shape the world we live in. It explores the nature of human activity in society and asks the question, “Why do we behave the way we do?”
It requires you to look at human activity from different perspectives and understand the very different ideas that exist about how and why we live in the world that we do.

In looking at society you will also learn about the significance of class, gender, and ethnicity on people’s “life chances”. What is it that determines rich from poor, the powerful from the weak and men from women?
